Christina-Lee-Honest-Beauty

Hi angels! Recently I had the honor to test many products from Honest Beauty, across their skin, hair and makeup lines. I have to be ‘honest’ with you – across all three categories, I’ve never been more impressed!

Lets start with the skincare. I am SUPER picky about what I put on my skin, especially because it’s sensitive. So many products on the market right now might offer results, but they contain chemicals that can wreak long-term damage on the skin. Some of them even create reactions on the spot. Honest Beauty, a spin-off of Jessica Alba’s Honest Company doesn’t work like that. Honest Beauty products are clean, simple, safe and effective.

The mission of each product (i.e. nourish) is simple and to the point. And so are the ingredients.
Dermatologically tested, these products are free from common, potentially damaging ingredients, such as:
  • alcohol
  • paraben
  • formaldehyde carriers
  • PEGs
  • MCI/MI
  • steareth-n
  • synthetic fragrances
  • dyes

For all of you animals lovers out there, you’ll also be happy to know that Honest Beauty products are
not animal-tested and contain no animal by-products.

THE SKINCARE

Though I was impressed with all of the Honest Beauty skincare products that I tried –  like their Refreshingly Clean Gentle Konjac Sponge (more on this in the next post) that perfectly matches their all purpose Magic Balm – the Refreshingly Clean Powder Cleanser was hands-down my favorite. This stuff is amazing! It comes in 30, easy-to-open, single packs, which are perfect for traveling or stocking up your bathroom.

Here’s how to use: pour the contents onto your hand, rinse your other hand with warm water, rub both hands together, lather onto face, rinse off.  Easy!

honest-company-makeupThis cleanser is powerful, yet nourishing, thanks to natural skin soothers like  aloe, calendula and chamomile. The gentle exfoliant, Aspen Bark, removes impurities and evens skin texture. After cleansing morning and night with the Refreshingly Clean Powder Cleanser, I immediately apply the Even Brighter EveryDay Moisturizer. This lightweight moisturizer leaves my skin radiant and polished, but not too dewy. Just the effect I want! Next, I spritz on the Elevated Hydration Mist, which contains hyaluronic acid to lock in hydration. The result of using Honest Beauty skincare products? Clear, clean, balanced skin, with ZERO irritation!

THE BRANDING

Before moving on to make-up, can I add that I’m also obsessed with Honest Beauty’s branding? The products are packaged in simple, sleek, easy-to-read bottles. When you open them, they fill the air with beautiful aromas thanks to the infusion of natural botanicals. The whole line – from the look to the feel to the smell – epitomizes ‘clean.’  Before I even tested the products, I was pleased.

Every woman knows they want products that look just as good sitting on their vanity as they do on themselves. Honest Beauty figured this out and accomplished it. Just look at the product pictures below!

THE MAKEUP

I don’t wear that much makeup daily, but I do want what I wear to look and feel like quality. The standout product for me (and my photographer) within the Honest Beauty makeup line was the Spotlight and Strobe kit. This compact kit contains two blendable creams to  brighten your skin and a luminizing powder to add a flawless finish. It glided on effortlessly! Want more tips on how to strobe like a pro? Check them out here

I also loved the Invisible Blurring Powder, because if I’m going to wear makeup, the most important aspect for me is to achieve natural-looking, clear skin. I lightly dusted the Invisible Blurring Powder across my face before this shoot and the results were indeed, camera-strong! Mattified, even, silky skin. Apply over makeup or alone!

If you guys follow me regularly, you also know I’m big on bold lips. The Lip Gloss in Playful Kiss was perfect. Infused with pomegranate, Honest Beauty’s Lip Gloss added just the right shiny finish.

THE HAIRCARE

Now to my favorite part – the haircare! I used the Beyond Hydrated Shampoo and Beyond Hydrated Conditioner for a week and a half to measure the results. I was, again, impressed. I struggle with dehydrated, sometimes unruly, hair, especially in the summer. My hair felt nourished and clean (it even looked lighter in color!) but it didn’t feel heavy or fall flat, unlike the results of a lot of other hydrating professional-level haircare products. (Trust me, I’ve tried MANY.) My all-time favorite product in this line was the Honestly Uplifted Volumizing Spray – and what I’m spritzing in this pic! Now, I may be biased because there’s nothing more I love than wavy, sexy, big, voluminous hair. But this stuff really works! It adds just the right amount of texture without weighing hair down. Plus, it smells like vacation in a bottle. Maybe it’s from the combination of natural oils added – like orange, bergamot and lemon peel. Being a clean eating junkie, here’s what I also love about this volumizer – the second ingredient is derived from pea protein, which is responsible for adding body and fullness! And just look at how beautiful the entire hair collection is, below.

The result of using Honest Beauty products? Glowing skin, hydrated hair, and a beautifully natural look, without compromising health or safety. That’s Honest and Clean…and that makes me happy!
